How to Perform Wudu (Ablution)

1. Intention (Niyyah)Make a sincere intention in your heart to perform Wudu for the sake of Allah.Purifies the intention — every act begins with sincerity.
2. Say “Bismillah”Begin in the name of Allah before starting the physical actions.Invokes blessings and focuses the heart on worship.
3. Wash HandsWash both hands up to the wrists three times, ensuring water reaches between fingers.Cleanses the hands that will serve in worship and good deeds.
4. Rinse MouthRinse the mouth three times, swilling water thoroughly.Purifies the tongue that recites Qur’an and speaks truth.
5. Rinse NoseInhale water gently into the nostrils three times and expel it.Removes impurities and symbolises humility before Allah.
6. Wash FaceWash the entire face from forehead to chin, ear to ear, three times.Brightens the face that will shine with light on the Day of Judgment.
7. Wash ArmsWash the right arm then the left, from fingertips to elbows, three times.Purifies the limbs used in action and service.
