When it comes to addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) take center stage. These 17 goals serve as a blueprint for a better and more sustainable future for all. In this blog post, we will explore how we align our projects in Kashmir with the UN SDGs, making a significant impact on the region’s development.

Understanding the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The UN SDGs were adopted by all UN member states in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These goals cover a wide range of issues, including poverty, hunger, education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, sustainable cities and communities, climate action, and more.

Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next decade, with the ultimate aim of eradicating poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity for all. The SDGs recognise that these goals are interconnected and that achieving one goal often depends on achieving others.

Kashmir Welfare Foundation’s Commitment to the UN SDGs

Kashmir Welfare Foundation, a non-profit organisation based in the UK and working in Kashmir, is dedicated to improving the lives of the people in the region. By aligning our projects with the UN SDGs, we ensure that our efforts contribute to the global agenda for sustainable development.

One of our primary areas of focus for Kashmir Welfare Foundation is poverty alleviation, which directly relates to SDG 1: No Poverty. We implement various initiatives to empower marginalised communities, providing them with access to education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities.
