We perform Qurbani as an act of obedience and devotion to Allah, following the example of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail in obedience to Allah’s command.
It symbolises submission to Allah’s will and gratitude for His blessings. Qurbani fosters empathy and solidarity with the less fortunate, as the meat is distributed to those in need, including the poor, widows, orphans, and the hungry.
At Kashmir Welfare Foundation, we meticulously care for our animals, from selection and grazing to slaughter and distribution of Qurbani Meat to needy families. Our commitment ensures ethical treatment throughout the process, reflecting our dedication to both animals and community welfare.

When choosing an animal for Qurbani, it’s crucial to select one free from any apparent defects or illnesses. Ensuring good health and the absence of visible disabilities or deformities guarantees the suitability of the animal for sacrifice in adherence to religious guidelines.

We conduct a comprehensive physical examination of the animal. We assess signs of vitality like alertness, appetite, breathing, and coat condition. Proper body weight, ease of movement, and walking ability are also checked, ensuring suitability for Qurbani.

We aim for a veterinarian to inspect the animal, ensuring its health. They assess overall well-being, detect diseases, and advise on suitability for Qurbani. This professional evaluation ensures compliance with standards and guarantees the animal’s fitness for sacrifice.

Age and maturity are crucial factors; the animal must meet the minimum age according to religious guidelines. In Islam, this means reaching maturity, typically at one year for sheep and goats, and two years for cattle. This ensures adherence to religious principles in selecting animals for Qurbani.

Animals should receive top quality feed to uphold their health and well-being. Whenever feasible, we prioritise organic feed during our care. This practice not only benefits the animals but also guarantees high-quality meat post-Qurbani, ensuring both ethical treatment and superior product outcomes.

Every animal under our care has access to clean drinking water, vital for maintaining bodily functions. This provision ensures their well-being and health, reflecting our commitment to their welfare and optimal care. Clean drinking water also helps cleanse the internal organs of the animal too.
To ensure the Sharia compliance of Qurbani meat procurement, we ensure that all animals meet the a minimum requirement. Animals must be healthy and atleast one year old.
We will start purchasing ahead of Qubani time to ensure we can get the best prices, check the animal properly in advance, provide them with a space to roam freely, provide them with nourishing meals and treat them really well before Qurbani.

A cow for Qurbani is divided into seven parts, allowing individuals to purchase any number or the entire animal. One person must provide either one part of a large animal (cow or camel) or an entire small animal (goat).
According to a hadith, “There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Qurbani than the sacrificing of animals. The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Judgment with its horns, hair, and hooves (to be weighed). The sacrifice is accepted by Allah before the blood reaches the ground. Therefore sacrifice with an open and happy heart” [Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah].
