It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how and why we collect and use personal information. This Cookie Policy does not govern consent for fundraising or marketing emails. Email preferences and marketing consent are managed separately.
Your choice matters.
We use strictly necessary technologies without asking for consent where they are needed to provide a service you request, keep the website secure, remember your cookie choices, maintain a shopping basket or keep you signed in. We ask for your permission before enabling optional analytics, advertising, personalisation or social-media technologies, except where an applicable law permits a specific use without consent.

- measure advertising performance and build or reach relevant audiences, where permitted;

7. Accounts, dashboards and internal platforms
KWF operates a donor portal, staff portal, volunteer portal and other internal platforms, as well as WooCommerce account functions. These services may use necessary cookies or local storage to:
- create and maintain a secure authenticated session;
- remember that a user is signed in where “Remember me” is selected;
- apply role-based access and permissions;
- protect accounts against unauthorised access and abuse;
- remember portal settings, filters or interface preferences;
- support forms, dashboards, notifications and account actions.
Donation and account records may be available within the relevant protected dashboard. Access is controlled using a username and password and, where implemented, additional security controls. Cookies used to keep a user authenticated do not themselves contain the full donation record.
You should sign out after using an account on a shared or public device and avoid selecting “Remember me” on a device that other people can access.
8. Donations, baskets and payments
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the donation journey, remember basket contents, retain selected campaigns or donation frequencies, prevent duplicate submissions, maintain checkout sessions and communicate securely with payment providers.
Donations are processed through Stripe and PayPal. KWF records donation and transaction information needed for donor services, accounting, administration, Gift Aid where applicable, fraud prevention and legal compliance. KWF does not store full bank-account or payment-card details in its own website dashboard. Payment credentials are handled by the relevant payment provider under its own security and privacy arrangements.
A basket may persist after you leave the website so that your selected donations remain available when you return. Where this function is necessary to provide the basket service you requested, it may operate without optional cookie consent.
9. Embedded videos, maps and social content
Some pages contain content supplied by third parties, including YouTube videos, Google Maps, Facebook posts and content from other social-media services. Loading or interacting with embedded content may allow that third party to:
- receive your IP address, browser or device information;
- set or access cookies and similar identifiers;
- know which page or content you viewed;
- link the interaction to an account where you are signed in to that service;
- use information according to its own privacy and cookie terms.
Where technically possible, optional embedded content should remain blocked until you allow the relevant category. You may need to enable functional or advertising cookies to view some embedded content.

11. How long cookies remain
Cookie duration varies. A session cookie usually expires when the browser is closed. A persistent cookie may remain for days, months or longer, unless you delete it sooner. Duration may also be refreshed when you revisit the website.

Because cookies and third-party services can change, the detailed cookie list should be generated from CookieYes scans. It should identify, where available, the cookie name, provider, purpose, category and expiry period.

We may update this Cookie Policy when our website, platforms, suppliers or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will show when the policy was most recently revised.
