Working Towards a Sustainable Future for Kashmir and Beyond
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace, prosperity, and environmental protection, now and for future generations. At its core are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a global call to action to end poverty, fight inequality, improve health and education, protect the planet, and promote peace and justice through global partnerships.
As a registered UN Partner, the Kashmir Welfare Foundation works tirelessly to bring these goals to life in Azad Kashmir and Pakistan, focusing on projects that create lasting impact for vulnerable communities.

Each of our projects is directly linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring that every pound donated contributes to a global vision of change.

Goal 1: No Poverty – Empowering Families to Break the Cycle
We believe poverty is not permanent. Through our Empower Lives Programme, we provide families with the tools and opportunities to achieve financial independence.
Our work includes building safe and secure homes for families in need, providing micro-finance and start-up grants for small businesses such as grocery stores, fruit & veg stalls, and sweet or savoury stalls, supplying DIY tools, building equipment, and sewing machines for sustainable income generation.
Goal 2: Zero Hunger – Fighting Malnutrition and Food Insecurity
No one should go to bed hungry. Through our Meals of Mercy Campaign, we fight food insecurity by providing cooked meals to families living in extreme poverty, essential food packs to help them through difficult times, and emergency food aid during disasters and conflict.
By ensuring access to nutrition, we save lives today and build stronger, more resilient communities for a hunger-free tomorrow.

Goal 3: Good Health & Wellbeing – Access to Lifesaving Care
Access to quality healthcare is a basic human right, yet many in Kashmir face life-threatening challenges due to lack of services.
Our initiatives include ambulance services for remote areas, mobile medical units reaching underserved villages, and free medical camps offering check-ups, treatments, and essential medicines. We address issues like malnutrition, waterborne diseases, bone problems, and chronic illnesses, improving lives and creating healthier, more resilient communities.
Goal 6: Clean Water & Sanitation – Every Drop Counts
Clean water saves lives. Through our Clean Water Project, we provide sustainable solutions by installing water bores, hand pumps, and filtration plants, while distributing hygiene kits to prevent the spread of disease.
In many parts of Kashmir, families must walk miles for unsafe water. Your support brings safe, accessible drinking water, improving health and giving hope to communities for generations to come.

Goal 13: Climate Action – Building Resilience Against Disasters
Kashmir faces increasing threats from floods, landslides, heatwaves, and deforestation. Our Green Kashmir Project takes action by planting trees to reduce soil erosion, constructing lakes and ponds to prevent flooding, and developing mini forests and urban greenery to fight climate change.
Our Drakht Lagao Talaab Banao Campaign (Plant Trees, Build Ponds) empowers communities to protect the environment and secure a sustainable future.
Goal 15: Life on Land – Protecting Kashmir’s Natural Heritage
We are committed to restoring Kashmir’s natural biodiversity by protecting endangered habitats, replanting forests, and combating desertification and land degradation.
Our work rebuilds fragile ecosystems damaged by deforestation and urban growth, ensuring sustainable solutions for food and water security. Through projects like Green Kashmir, we safeguard the land for future generations, creating a healthier, greener, and more resilient Kashmir.

Beyond the UN SDGs – Tackling Root Causes
While the SDGs guide our work, Kashmir Welfare Foundation goes deeper. We conduct research and analysis to understand root causes of poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation in Pakistan and Kashmir.
We don’t just treat symptoms. We create long-term solutions to prevent future crises.
This research informs our strategies and policies, helping us build resilience and empower communities to stand strong against future challenges.
