Aqeeqah in Azad Kashmir
Celebrate Your Newborn with Compassion
The birth of a child is a joyous occasion for every parent. In accordance with the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, it is recommended to perform Aqeeqah — the sacrifice of an animal — to celebrate the arrival of your newborn. Traditionally, two goats or sheep are sacrificed for a male and one for a female child.
Aqeeqah is usually performed on the seventh day after birth, though it can be carried out earlier or later if necessary. This sacred act serves as a means of gratitude, removing hardships from the child’s life, and sharing blessings with family, friends, and the needy.

Lets Do Aqiqah!Why Perform Aqiqah
Aqiqah is a Sunnah of great merit, performed to honor the newborn and express thankfulness to Allah. It also allows families to share joy with their community, including the poor, orphans, and elderly, by distributing the meat to those in need.
For a boy: It is recommended to sacrifice 2 animals
For a girl: It is recommended to sacrifice 1 animal.
Animals for Aqiqah
According to hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ recommended:
“Two sheep of similar age are to be sacrificed for a boy, and one for a girl.” (Sunan Abu Dawood)
Animals used for Aqiqah should be healthy, free from defects, and sacrificed humanely. Acceptable animals include goats, cows, or camels (with minimum age requirements: goats 2+, cows 3+, camels 6+).
We typically use goats, but can accomodate for cows or camels upon request, however, costs may vary.
