Needs on the ground change daily. One community may urgently require food while another may require medication or medical assistance. By using Relief Units rather than fixed project budgets, our field teams can respond quickly and efficiently, ensuring aid reaches the people facing the greatest hardship. The interent blackout also complicates relief efforts on the ground if we were to manage each project from here, so we have given our team clear instructions on what activities to do in advance.
Before the disruption began, Kashmir Welfare Foundation already had funds available within Azad Kashmir to support emergency operations. In addition, supplies are currently being purchased and coordinated through Pakistan before being transported to our operational hubs. This allows humanitarian activities to continue despite banking restrictions and disruptions.
Food, medicines and relief supplies are sourced through trusted suppliers and partners in Pakistan before being transported to Kashmir Welfare Foundation hubs within Azad Kashmir. From these hubs, volunteers and field teams coordinate distribution to affected communities, ensuring aid reaches vulnerable families as quickly as possible.
Kashmir Welfare Foundation teams are currently active in Rawalakot, Bagh, Muzaffarabad and surrounding communities. Relief operations may expand to additional locations depending on need, security conditions and available resources. Our priority is reaching vulnerable families and patients most affected by ongoing disruption.
Assistance is provided based on need alone. Beneficiaries include vulnerable families, elderly residents, widows, children, patients requiring medication and households struggling due to lost income or disruption.
