Planting for the Future: A Legacy of Charity and Sustainability
Recently, we checked in on our plantation projects at Jamia Khadim Ul Haramain Masjid in Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir, where we have been working tirelessly to plant and nurture trees for a greener and healthier environment. Our team reported that, unfortunately, the region has faced prolonged dry weather, with little to no rain for several months. As a result, the trees we planted earlier at Masjid Haramain Sharifain, dedicated as Sadqah Jaariya for our beloved departed souls, have been struggling to survive.

Understanding the urgent need for water, we made the decision to fund and install a 75ft (23 meters) water pipe to ensure that these trees receive the nourishment they need to thrive. This small but significant step highlights the importance of plantation projects and their lasting impact on communities, the environment, and future generations.
Jamia Khadim Ul Haramain Masjid: A Center of Worship and Community
Our plantation efforts took place behind the Jamia Khadim Ul Haramain Masjid, one of Muzaffarabad’s most prominent mosques. This beautiful masjid, named in honor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques (Khadim Al Haramain Al Sharifain), serves as a central place of worship for the local population.

The mosque’s architectural design combines traditional Islamic elements with modern construction, featuring a spacious prayer hall, intricate calligraphy, and a peaceful courtyard that enhances the worship experience. Beyond prayers, the masjid plays a vital role in the community by hosting Quranic study sessions, religious education classes, and community gatherings, strengthening the spiritual and social bonds among residents.
The Importance of Plantation Projects
Tree plantation initiatives like ours offer numerous benefits, both immediate and long-term. Some of the key advantages include:
Environmental Sustainability: Trees help combat climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, releasing oxygen, and improving air quality. They also provide shade, reduce soil erosion, and contribute to better water retention in the soil.
Community Well-being: Green spaces create healthier living environments by reducing pollution, lowering temperatures, and supporting biodiversity.
Economic Benefits: Fruit-bearing trees can provide sustenance and economic opportunities for local communities, helping them become more self-sufficient.
Spiritual and Moral Duty: In Islam, planting trees is a highly rewarding act. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then birds, or a person, or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (Sadqah) for him.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
Sadqah Jaariya: A Continuous Source of Reward
One of the most beautiful aspects of Islam is the concept of Sadqah Jaariya—a form of charity that continues to benefit people even after one’s passing. Acts such as building wells, planting trees, and supporting educational initiatives fall under Sadqah Jaariya because they provide ongoing benefits to communities.
By planting trees in the name of our loved ones, we ensure that their legacy lives on through an act of goodness that keeps on giving. Every time a tree provides shade, shelter, or sustenance, the rewards continue to accumulate for them in the hereafter.
Dedicated in Loving Memory
This project was completed in loving memory of Riasat Bi, Taj Begum, and Rubina Sadiq, all from Khairi Bala, Dadyal, Azad Kashmir, and Birmingham, UK. May Allah grant them the highest ranks in Jannah-tul-Firdous and shower them with His infinite mercy.
We encourage others to take part in similar initiatives. Whether it’s planting a tree, supporting water conservation efforts, or contributing to sustainable development projects, every small act of kindness leaves a lasting impact.
May Allah accept our efforts and make this plantation a source of blessings for generations to come. Ameen.
