The land began to move. Mudslides. Flood water rushing through villages. Homes damaged. Paths destroyed. Families displaced. This is what happens when trees are no longer there to hold the ground together. This is climate change.Not theory. Not headlines. This is the reality.
A tree is not just wood. It is life. It breathes. It gives. It protects. And when a tree is cut… It is not just land that changes. It is balance that is lost.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
“And the earth – He has laid it out for the creatures.”
(Surah Ar-Rahman 55:10)
This Earth was created with balance. Trees are part of that balance.
And the Prophet ﷺ said:
“If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charity (Sadaqah).”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

The 1 Million Trees Project is a large-scale reforestation initiative by Kashmir Welfare Foundation to plant one million trees across Azad Kashmir. The aim is to combat deforestation, reduce climate change impact, prevent floods and landslides, and restore natural ecosystems.
Tree planting in Kashmir is critical due to rising deforestation, soil erosion, and climate-related disasters. Trees help stabilise land, reduce flood risk, improve air quality, and protect communities living in vulnerable mountain regions.
It costs £12 to plant one tree, which includes the sapling, planting, protection, and maintenance for up to two years. This ensures a higher survival rate and long-term environmental impact.
Many charities focus only on planting. We focus on survival and long-term impact. Your donation includes: Ongoing care for 2 years Dedicated gardeners Organic nourishment Protection of saplings This ensures trees grow into forests, not just short-term planting numbers.
We focus on native species such as walnut, mulberry, deodar, pine, and fruit trees like apple and apricot, carefully chosen for Kashmir’s climate and ecosystem.
Trees will be planted across Azad Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Mirpur, Poonch, Bagh, Kotli, Sudhnoti, Hattian Bala and Haveli. Priority is given to deforested areas, erosion-prone zones, and regions most affected by climate change, ensuring your contribution helps restore Kashmir’s forests, improve the environment, and support local communities.
Trees absorb carbon dioxide, reduce greenhouse gases, and improve air quality. Large-scale plantations help cool the environment, protect water sources, and prevent natural disasters.
Absolutely. 100% of your donation goes directly into planting saplings, supporting local jobs, and maintaining the planted areas, ensuring lasting environmental impact. Furthermore, we regularly inspect each tree planted.
