A woman should never have to face the world alone. Yet in Kashmir…
👉 Many are left with no choice.
Moneeba Farooq remembers the day clearly. It started quietly. A light rain. Nothing unusual. Nothing to fear.
Her father was unwell. He needed urgent medical care. The nearest hospital was in Muzaffarabad. Hours away.
Her husband stepped forward. He would take him. As he always did. As the one who carried responsibility. They left that morning. Two men. Two providers. Two pillars of one family.
The journey was difficult. Snow began to fall. Hail followed. Rain grew heavier. Still, they continued. They survived one flash flood. Then another. But the mountains were changing. As they drove, small stones began falling.
A warning.
A passerby shouted
Don’t stop here. It will get worse.
They hesitated. Just for a moment. Then decided to move. And in those few seconds… Everything changed. The rain intensified. The mountain gave way. Rocks began to fall. Larger. Heavier. Faster.
He pressed forward. Trying to escape. Trying to survive. Then one rock struck. Another struck. Time slowed. The force of the impact pushed the car off the road. The car dropped over 200 feet down off the mountain pass. Into the river below. There were no survivors.
In a single day, Moneeba lost her father. And her husband. The two men who provided for her family. The two men who kept everything together. And just like that…
👉 She became a widow.
👉 Her children became dependent.
👉 Her world changed forever.
Moneeba’s story is not unique. Across Azad Kashmir, many women are left:
Widows face:
Isolation. Poverty. Uncertainty. And yet, they carry on.
Through the Kashmir Welfare Foundation Widows Project, you can step in when everything else is gone.
Provide a sewing machine, materials, and tools so a widow can earn a halal income.
Ensure her family has consistent, nutritious meals throughout the year.
Repair unsafe homes, providing security and protection.
Provide essential hygiene items for women and children, protecting health and dignity.
Your support does not create dependency. It restores strength.
It allows a widow to:
When a woman loses her husband…
She does not just lose a person. She loses the one who stood beside her in every decision. The one who carried responsibility when things were difficult. The one who brought stability into the home.
She loses: Security. Income. Support. The rent still needs to be paid. The children still need to be fed. Life does not pause. But everything becomes heavier.
She becomes both mother and father overnight. Carrying grief in her heart…
While carrying responsibility on her shoulders.
Your donation cannot replace what she has lost. It cannot remove the pain. It cannot fill the empty space left behind.
But it can bring ease. It can put food on the table. It can keep her children warm. It can give her the means to stand again.
It can turn survival…
👉 Into stability.
It can turn hardship…
👉 Into hope.
And sometimes… That small ease is everything.
We work directly on the ground in Azad Kashmir:
This is not rushed charity.
👉 This is thoughtful impact.
Supporting a widow is one of the most meaningful acts of charity.
Your donation becomes:
Every meal. Every skill. Every moment of relief.
👉 Written in your scale.
Somewhere in Kashmir…
A woman like Moneeba is trying to rebuild her life. Holding everything together. With very little.
👉 You can change that.
Be the reason she finds stability again. Be the reason her children are cared for. Be the reason she stands strong.
Give dignity. Give independence. Give hope.
