Kashmir’s Vulnerabillity

Azad Kashmir confronts significant climate risks with only five percent forest cover, ranking among the six most vulnerable nations globally.

Scarce forests heighten environmental threats, underscoring the urgency for sustainable conservation and resilience efforts. Tree planting is crucial for a sustainable future, bolstering environmental health and resilience against climate change impacts.

Combat Deforestation

Afforestation in Azad Kashmir offers numerous benefits, combating deforestation, soil erosion, and biodiversity loss. Trees mitigate climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, improving air quality, and conserving water.

They also support biodiversity and provide habitats. Additionally, afforestation creates jobs, fosters community engagement, and enhances the well-being of Azad Kashmir’s residents.

Strategic Planting

Trees are crucial in combating climate change by absorbing and storing carbon dioxide, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions for a healthier environment.

Their integration into local environments serves multiple purposes, from providing shade to offering food sources, fostering a sustainable and community-centric approach to environmental initiatives that prioritise well-being and balance.

We are one of few research based charities working in Kashmir at this moment in time with a broader view of Kashmir’s growth and development.

The Green Kashmir Project has made significant strides in improving environmental conditions and enhancing the resilience of local communities to climate change impacts. Through reforestation, water conservation, and waste management efforts, the project has contributed to biodiversity conservation, mitigating natural disasters, and promoting sustainable livelihoods in Kashmir.
